Useful properties of mountain ash
What is useful for mountain ash health!
Mountain ash is a woody plant rich in vitamins and trace elements, grows in the temperate climate zone and is distributed throughout the world
What useful substances are contained in the composition of mountain ash?
Red mountain ash is a unique multivitamin product. In this, it is not inferior to the black-fruited "relative" - aronia. In its composition there are such useful components:
yellow-orange pigment carotene (its content in leaves and fruits is higher than in carrots, oranges);
vitamins of various groups (C, B1, B2, P, PP, E, K, etc.);
water-soluble vitamin B9-folic acid;
micro-and macronutrients-iron (2 mg), potassium (230 mg), manganese (2 mg), phosphorus (17 mg), magnesium (331 mg), calcium (42 mg), etc.;
amino acids; organic substances that exhibit acidic properties (malic, tartaric acids, etc.);
from 8 to 13% of sugars;
several types of tannins, pectin;
flavonoids (plant polyphenols) — block the harmful effects of free radicals on cells, prevent the development of atherosclerosis, change the body's response to allergens, prevent the development of inflammatory processes, effectively fight viruses;
phospholipids-are a source of phosphoric acid required for the normal functioning of the human body;
essential oil, characterized by strong pharmacological properties;
amygdalin (vitamin B17) is an organic compound that specifically destroys cancer cells, improves metabolic processes in the body, slows down degenerative processes in the body, and normalizes blood pressure.
CHEMICAL COMPOSITION
Ripe rowan berries contain many substances that determine their useful properties:
fats - up to 0.2%; carbohydrates, including pectin-6-20%; organic acids (sorbic and parasorbic, malic, citric, amber, tartaric) - 2.2-4%;
amino acids (arginine, asparagine, alanine, histidine, glycine, lysine, tyrosine, cysteine) - 1.4%; vitamins; minerals; bitterness; alcohols (sorbitol);
bioflavonoids (astragalin, spiraeoside, sophoroside, quercetin) – 0,7%; essential oil; glycoside amygdalin.
The caloric content of berries is low and is up to 50 kcal per 100 g.
Carbohydrates of rowan berries are 55% represented by dietary fibers – water-insoluble fiber and water-soluble pectin, 35% – starch and 10% - mono - and disaccharides (glucose, sucrose, fructose).
The high content of vitamins, macro-and microelements make rowan fruits a real storehouse of valuable substances.
